Another “highlight” of the area is Tabacon Hot Springs where you can safely bear witness to nature's most powerful force as Arenal erupts in a display of awesome energy. The best place for a relaxing swim on the thermal waters! Overnight at Arenal Paraiso or Montaña de Fuego. (breakfast included)

Day 03     Visit to Arenal Hanging Bridges
Hanging Bridges of Arenal Volcano, is the most beautiful environmental project in Costa Rica. Located within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, the trails and bridges of this project will bring you as close as you could ever hope to get to the birds, the flowers and the lush vegetation of the primary rain forest.

You will be able to walk right into the forest, thanks to the imposing hanging bridges and the beautiful trails that are safe and easy to walk on. The Hanging Bridges project consists of eight (8) fixed bridges, ranging in length between 8 and 22 meters, and six (6) hanging bridges, built with the latest techniques and designed with an eye for both beauty and safety. The hanging bridges are between 48 and 98 meters long. All the bridges are made of galvanized steel and high-strength aluminum. The safety mesh and the suspension cables are all galvanized steel. The entire project was designed to blend with the natural environment, leaving the forest virtually intact.

The trails, covering a distance of about 3.1 kilometers, are inside the forest close to Arenal Volcano. As you walk, you be able to appreciate the great diversity of flowers and wildlife that are typical of the rain forest. Given the roughness of the terrain, the trails are joined by the eight fixed bridges and six hanging bridges described above. The trails have been designed professionally and have been laid out with a maximum grade of 7 degrees, so that anyone can walk on them. Overnight at Arenal Paraiso or Montaña de Fuego. (breakfast included)

Day 04     Transfer to Monteverde
Most famous for being associated with the Monteverde Biological Reserve the tiny community of Monteverde is a small village located near the entrance of the cloud forest. Monteverde which means ‘green mountain’ in Spanish was founded by the Quaker community that migrated from North America to Costa Rica in the 1950’s. Though not an actual village as many of the homes spread out over a large area, this village has now developed itself to cater to the huge number of tourists that pass through here.

Upon your arrival in Monteverde you will find that much of this village remains untouched by modernity, and most of the people here still lead rural lives. In town, which is actually Santa Elena, there is a bank, where you can exchange your money and travelers checks, as well as withdraw cash. There is also a pharmacy, local hospital, book store, gas station, ATM machine, police station, and post office in the area as well. A number of supermarkets, internet cafes, restaurants, and bars have also opened up; mostly to sever tourists who pass through town.

As the weather here is quite chilly and misty, due to the village being high up in the Tilaran Mountain Range, do bring some thick clothes and a light jacket to stay warm. A lovely and peaceful place perfect for those who enjoy nature, the village of Monteverde is actually a dairy farming community that makes some of the best cheeses in Costa Rica. When here, do remember to try out the delicious local cheeses, which are a treat to eat.

If you are a bird watcher, this village offers some lovely bird watching opportunities, even though you are not in the cloud forest itself. However, if you prefer to do the more touristy thing, visit the local craft centers, the women's co-op center, the butterfly garden and the Hummingbird Gallery in town. Overnight at Belmar or Sapo Dorado Hotel (Breakfast Included)

Day 05     Visit to Monteverde Reserve

Considered to be among the tiniest national parks in Costa Rica, what this park lacks in size, it makes up for in stunning natural beauty, combining gorgeous beaches with dense lush rainforests, exotic animal and bird species and exquisite coral reefs.

Home to an amazing variety of birds and wildlife, the Manuel Antonio National Park also has some of the best beaches in the entire country that not only offer wonderful water sport activities, but also are lined with striking lush green forestation. The snorkeling here is terrific, while swimming conditions on some of the beaches in the park are fantastic. The four beaches here include; the Espadilla Sur, the Playita, the Manuel Antonio, and the Escondido. Of these the Playa Manuel Antonio is the prettiest beach with silky white sand and a stunning offshore coral reef.

Sloths, iguanas, peccaries, armadillos, coatimundis, and scarlet macaws are just a few of the many animals that can be seen roaming in the park. However, the Manuel Antonio National Park’s most popular residents are the different monkey species that live here.
