Day 01 Arrive ULAANBATAAR
Arrive in Ulaanbataar, the capital city of Mongolia and transfer to hotel. Check-in at the hotel. Later City tour, including visit to Zaisan Memorial Hill if time permits. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (D).
Day 02 ULAANBATAAR / KARAKORUM
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Karakorum (380 kilometers – 240 miles) Lunch on the way. Arrive at the camp late in the afternoon. Refreshments. In the evening stop at a local horse breeder’s ger and visit his family. Horse riding session, for those who are interested. Overnight in gers.
Day 03 KARAKORUM / BAYANGOBI
Breakfast at the camp. Visit Erdene Zuu, once the largest monastery in Mongolia and almost destroyed in the 1930’s. Tour of the monastery grounds and several chapels and see excellent examples of Buddhist iconography, dating from the 17th century. Visit the symbolic ruins of Karakorum, the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Return to Karakorum base camp for lunch. Drive to Hoyor Zagal Camp (80 kilometers – 50 miles). Overnight at Hoyor Zagal Camp.
Day 04 BAYANGOBI / HUSTAIN NURUU / ULAANBATAAR
After an early breakfast, drive to Hustain Nuruu National Reserve to observe Przewalski wild horses, recently reintroduced back into Mongolia’s wildlife (140 kilometers – 87 miles). Drive back to Ulaanbataar. Lunch en route, arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 05 ULAANBATAAR
Breakfast at the hotel. Tour the Gandan Monastery, followed by the Fine Arts Museum. In the afternoon, visit the National History Museum. Enjoy evening performance of folk dances. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Ulaanbataar.
Day 06 ULAANBATAAR / GOBI DESERT
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for flight to Gobi. On arrival in the Gobi, transfer by bus to the Ger Camp. Lunch. In the late afternoon visit to a camel breeding camp for a photo opportunity, camel riding session and explore the nomad’s lifestyle. Overnight in Mongolian gers.
Day 07 GOBI DESERT YOL VALLEY
Breakfast at the camp. Visit Yol Valley, at Gurvan Saikhan Mountain National Parkfor morning trek and an opportunity to photograph the stunning landscape, "Gobi Glacier" and intriguing wildlife. Picnic lunch followed by a leisurely hike. Return to base camp. Dinner and overnight at the ger.
Day 08 GOBI DESERT / FLAMING CLIFFS
Breakfast at the camp. A day trip to Bayan Zag, the Flaming Cliffs (98 kilometers – 61 miles), for exploring the Gobi "Cemetery of Dinosaurs" following the trails of famous adventurer Mr. Roy Chapman Andrews. Picnic Lunch. On the way back, visit Moltsog Els-sand dunes. Later drive back to base camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 09 GOBI DESERT / ULAANBATAAR
Breakfast at the camp. Late morning flight to Ulaanbataar. After lunch, tour Bogd Gegen Palace, home of the last Mongolian Khan who ruled till 1924. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 Depart ULAANBATAAR
Morning free till transfer to airport for you onward flight.
