Chile Arica Region

This three day tour is very varied. Volcanos at altitudes of 6.300m, wildlife of the altiplano, and small fishing villages typical of the Northern region are on the program. Traces of the Inca Empire are present throughout the circuit. Arica’s archaeological museum displays the oldest mummies in the world (over 6.000 years old).
Day 01 Arica – Putre
Arrival at Arica airport and transfer to Putre. Visit on the way to the Pukara de Copaquilla, to Tambo de Zapahuira and to the candelabras valley. Transfer at the hosteria Las Vicuñas, dinner (included).
Day 02 Putre - Parc national Lauca – Arica
Full day excursion in the national park of Lauca, visit to lake Chungara (4.500m), the Cotacotani lagunas and the ayamara village of Parinacota. Over the day travellers will see many animals like llamas, vigognes, guanacos, condors, flamingos, etc. Return to Arica at the end of the day to spend the night.
Day 03 Arica – Santiago
City tour of Arica in the morning: the town centre with its « plaza de armas », its harbours with its many pelicans, the Azapa valley and the archeological museum. Transfer to the airport for a return flight in the evening.

Note: Putre Hotel is an « improved refuge » but its location is important for the following tour day and allows a night of adaptation to the altitude before going further to 4.000m.
