10 Days

Day 01     SANTIAGO (D)
Reception at the Santiago’s airport and Transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon, Tour around Santiago visiting the most outstanding attractions of the city, including a walking tour in the center of Santiago, visiting the main square “Plaza de Armas”, Santiago’s Cathedral, Ahumada Boulevard, the Government Palace “La Moneda”. Then by vehicle visit the main avenues of the old Santiago, crossing the bohemian neighborhood of Bellavista and drive up the San Cristobal Hill, for a magnificent panoramic view of the city and the Andes Mountain Range. Then visit the modern part of Santiago including its elegant neighborhoods, shopping and financial centers. This tour ends at the artisan village of “Los Graneros del Alba”, where artisans can be seen at work, having plenty of time to walk around or do some shopping. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Eurotel.

Day 02     SANTIAGO (B/D)
Buffet Breakfast at the Hotel. In the morning depart from the hotel and travel through the Casablanca and Curacavi valleys. On arrival at the Pacific coast, visit the beaches of Las Salinas, and Reñaca and continue to Viña del Mar, known as the garden city for it’s beautiful parks and floral displays. Visit the Municipal Casino and the avenues of this attractive town. In the afternoon, continue to Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where stairways and old funicular lifts lead up to the 44 hills on which the city is built. Dating back to the XVI century, the architecture of this quirky town is attractive and eclectic. Optional visit to the Museum House of Pablo Neruda, one of Chile’s Nobel Prize winning poets. Return to Santiago. Dinner and overnight at Eurotel Hotel.

Day 03     SANTIAGO - ARICA - PUTRE (B/LD)
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to the airport of Santiago for flight to Arica (airfare not included) Reception at Chacalluta airport of Arica. Travel to the city for a city tour of this border city with Peru, known as “The city of eternal spring”, for it’s privileged climate. In the afternoon visit the beaches, the fisherman’s wharf and the historic buildings of the San Marcos Cathedral and The Casa de la Cultura, designed by Gustavo Eiffel. Following the visit, start the climb to Putre, 145 km (85 miles) away in the Andes Mountains. Travel through the desert and fertile valleys with sightings of Geoglyphs, candelabra cactus and ancient forts with wonderful views. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at Hostería Las Vicuñas.

Day 04     PUTRE - ARICA (B/L*/D)
Breakfast at the hotel and depart to Lauca National Park, a protected area where the fragile highland ecosystem gives life to wildlife and flora such as majestic vicuñas, llamas and alpacas well as Andean bird varieties in the small lakes where Andean ostriches and sometimes condors can be seen. Visit the village of Parinacota and its 17th century church, now a national monument.

Arrival at Chungara Lake situated at 4,570 mt o.s.l., one of the world´s highest which is surrounded by volcanoes. Box Lunch at the shore of the lake. Visit and possibility of a bath in the Jurasi hot spring. In the afternoon, return to Arica. Box Lunch at Chungara Lake. Dinner and overnight at El Paso Hotel.

Day 05     ARICA - IQUIQUE (B/L/D)
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Iquique, approximately 300 km (175 miles) to the south. On the way view the geoglyphs of chizam, Tiviliche and the Giant of Atacama, representing a Tiwanaku chief on the old packhorse roads from the highlands to the coast. Just before arriving at Iquique, visit the abandoned nitrate plant of Santa Laura, and Humberstone, once a thriving town for the workers. Continue to Iquique. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at Terrado Club Hotel.

Day 06     IQUIQUE - CALAMA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (B/D)
Breakfast at the Hotel. In the morning, city tour around Iquique, visiting the Spanish Casino (1904), the coastal sector and the beautiful Cavancha and Brava beaches, the Municipal Theater (1889), the Spanish Center, the Astoreca Palace (1904), Baquedano and Balmaceda streets which reflect the prosperity of the days of nitrate boom, the Naval Museum which displays a variety of objects and documents that describe the Combate Naval de Iquique and Punta Gruesa. Afternoon at leisure before transfer to the airport for flight to Calama (not included). Reception at Calama airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight Hotel Casa de Don Tomas.

Day 07     SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - THE ATACAMA SALT LAKE - TOCONAO - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit to the Archeological Museum of Padre Le Peige. Afterwards visit the native fortress of Quitor, where many atacamenian families live who works the land. Continue to the ruins of Tulor which are more than 3.000 years old. In the afternoon, visit to Toconao village and following a walk in the Jeri Valley, finish the tour in the Chaxa Lagoon, in the Atacama Salt Lake. Habitat of pink flamingoes. Return to San Pedro de Atacama. Dinner at a local restaurant in San Pedro. Overnight at La Casa de Don Tomas Hotel.

Day 08     SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - TATIO GEISER - PURITAMA - VALLEY OF THE MOON - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (B/D)
Departure from the Hotel at 4:00 A.M. to Tatio Geysers and Puritama. Breakfast at the Tatio Geysers, before walking around this geothermal field. Return to San Pedro de Atacama, stopping off for a visit to the Puritama hot springs on the way. Time at leisure to enjoy the 30°C waters. Return to San Pedro enjoying marvelous vies of the Tocorpuri and Sairecahur Volcanoes. Afternoon, visit to the Moon Valley, to admire the sunset in the Atacama Desert. Return to San Pedro de Atacama. Dinner at a local restaurant in San Pedro. Overnight at La Casa de Don Tomas Hotel.

Day 09     SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - CALAMA - SANTIAGO (B/D)
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Calama to take a flight to Santiago. Reception at the Arturo Merino Benítez of Santiago and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Eurotel Hotel.

Day 10     SANTIAGO (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport to take onward flight.
