An introduction to the new and old China. This tour takes you to ancient China, Qufu (Birth Place of Confucius) & Mt. Tai where 72 emperors had come to worshipped. This tour combines Chinese culture and historical sites. Visit a local family in a village that has hardly changed in centuries. Enjoy a boat cruise in Suzhou, "Venice of the East," & West Lake in Hangzhou, often called "Paradise on Earth." And of course your Tour includes the Great Wall, The Forbidden City and Tian An Men Square. Special banquets and cultural Shows have been added for your enjoyment.
Day 01 Depart Canada
The mysterious dragon beckons as you board your transPacific flight to Beijing. Relax and enjoy the in-flight service.
Day 02 Arrival at Beijing
Welcome to Beijing - the Capital of China and home to many wonders. Arrive in the late afternoon. You will be met by your friendly guide and transferred to the 4-star Grand View Garden Hotel. (D)
Day 03 Beijing
Visit Tian An Men Square, the Forbidden City, and the beautiful Summer Palace. Dinner is followed by a Peking Opera Performance. (B/L/D)
Day 04 Beijing
Excursion to the mighty Great Wall. Enroute visit the ancient Ming Tombs. Enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner in the evening. (B/L/D)
Day 05 Beijing - Jinan
Visit the Temple of Heaven in the morning. After lunch, board a train for Jinan. Transfer to the 4-star Litian Hotel. A welocme dinner will be held in your honour. (B/L/D)
Day 06 Jinan
Jinan is best known for its hundreds of natural springs and black pottery dating back to the Neolithic times. Visit the Black Tiger Spring and Daming Lake. (B/L/D)
Day 07 Mt. Tai - Qufu
Visit Mount Tai - China's most sacred mountain, designated as a heritage site by UNESCO in 1982. 72 emperors have paid homage to this 'Emperor Mountain.' Take a cable car to the summit to enjoy a breathtaking view and the fresh air. Coach to Qufu, where little has changed in 2,000 years. Stay at the Traditional Queli Hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 08 Qufu - Hangzhou
Qufu is the birthplace of Confucius. His philosophy and ethics, known as Confucianism, has since influenced China and Asia. Visit the magnificent Confucius Temple, Mansion and the final resting place of Confucius. Enjoy a folkloric dance & song show follows lunch. Coach back to Jinan and then depart for Hangzhou by an overnight train (4 softberth sleepers to one private compartment). (B/L/D)
Day 09 Hangzhou
Arrive in the early morning. Transfer to the 4-star Holiday Inn to freshen up and have breakfast. Visit the Lingyin Temple and the Six Harmony Pagoda. Enjoy a boat cruise on the tranquil waters of the beautiful West Lake. Tasting a cup of the 'Dragon Well' tea at the Longjing Plantation will add to your highlights of today. (B/L/D)
Day 10 Hangzhou - Suzhou
Take a train to Suzhou - 'Venice of the East.' Its fame rests on silk weaving and its exquisite scenery. Enjoy a boat cruise on the Grand Canal and a visit to the Silk Factory. Overnight at the 4-star Castle Hotel (B/L/D)
Day 11 Tingli Excursion
Visit the Master of Nets Garden and the Embroidery Institute. Coach to Tongli - a water town with 7 low islands connected by 49 stone bridges of different styles and ages. Have your camera ready to capture the natural settings of these bridges, brooks and wells. Return to Suzhou. (B/L/D)
Day 12 Suzhou - Shanghai
Morning visit to the Lu Alley ancient village where you will see many Ming and Qing Dynasty architectural buildings. Visit a Sculpture Building, where you will see artworks of brick, wood and gold sculptures and paintings. Take an afternoon train to Shanghai. Transfer to the 4-star Best Western New Century Hotel. Day 13 Shanghai
The cosmopolitan port of Shanghai is a treat to your senses with its mix of ancient and modern influences. Visit the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuan Garden, the Bund and Nanjing Road. Enjoy an Acrobatic show. (B/L/D)
Day 14 Shanghai
A free day to explore and find your bargains. Both Nanking Road and Huai Hai Road are within a short distance from your hotel. (B)
Day 15 Depart Shanghai
Bid farewell to China as you board your flight home. (B)
